What lies underneath?

coincidences?

Perhaps an invisible web shapes the events of our lives.
I aim to use storytelling to explore this and many other things that seem to defy logic and rationality.

How to Embrace the Desire to Explore?

How can anyone discover their place in what we call reality?

Are rationality and intuition truly incompatible?

It is often said that the left and right hemispheres of the brain are interlinked, and perhaps if mine was scanned, we would see not just an interplay but a true tangle of emotional and rational components. It’s perhaps for this reason that my days never quite seem to follow a predictable pattern.

About me

I am Valeria, CEO of a biotech start-up. I live in London with three housemates: my son, who towers over me but will always be my little child, and two cats with very distinct personalities. As a physician and researcher, I am intrigued by the intersection of logic and intuition, which I explore through a holistic approach.

This passion has led me to the philosophies and practices of the East, from which I draw inspiration and strength to face the challenges life throws at us.

I try to be creative in everything I do, but writing is my favourite outlet for my creativity, and where the imagination is not constrained by logic.

I come from L’Aquila in Abruzzo, where from a young age nature nourished my desire to know and my inclination to create stories. My restless curiosity drove me to move to London, a constantly buzzing city. No-one could take advantage of every opportunity it offers, but I try my best. I have enthusiastically traversed paths ranging from science to the arts writing is my favourite outlet for my creativity, and where the imagination is not constrained by logic.

I believe that thought can shape existence – except for those times when life surprises you, revealing its strange sense of humour and a penchant for plot twists. Perhaps it is this contradiction that consistently prompts me to ponder two fundamental questions: “What lies beyond?” and “Why does the cat stare at me so intently?”

Why did I write
Vermilion Bridge?

The story is intended to speak more to the heart than the brain and spiritual growth. As the “bridge” title suggests, it is all about connections.

Vermilion Bridge

In a moment of profound professional and personal crisis, Andreas, a young researcher in London, encounters the enigmatic, intriguing Carol; he decides to follow her to a remote island where the mysterious Coral Institute is located. This marks not only the beginning of a love story but also the start of a journey towards a completely new vision of existence, the laws that govern it, fate, and relationships.

From this journey, the protagonist emerges transformed, as newfound awareness ignites decisive changes within him. I hope the themes explored in this story and the new perspectives described can act as encouragement and a spur for anyone wishing to embark on a new path.

A Stroll Through Pompeii

Love, destiny, transformation, profound connections and timelessness – themes  spanning past and present. A previously unpublished tale that precedes Vermilion Bridge by over twenty years.

The idea of Shironeko was inspired by the legendary independence of cats. With their free spirit and irresistible need to explore the world on their own terms, I decided to create a company in London dedicated to creative projects beyond just publishing. The objective? To give space to ideas that aim to transcend conventional boundaries.
